The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) opened its portal for applications from qualified Nigerians about a year ago and since then, no formal information was dished out to the masses not until the early part of 2020 when 162,399 applicants received text messages and emails directing them to go sit for an aptitude test.
It has been six months after the aptitude tests and nothing is officially out yet with regards to the recruitment even though people have their speculations.
There might be some shades of light at the end of the tunnel as Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) recently approved the promotion of 2,634 officers to the next rank up the heirarchy.
It was the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed who made the announcement at the meeting of the NCSB this week. She is also the chairman of the board. It is meant to ginger the service according to Hajiya Zainab.
The talking point is that the officers whose promotions were approved wouldnt reflect July 2020 as its official date of promotion. The promotion dates back to the 1st of January, 2019 as its official date which was before the portal opened in mid-last year.
The late approval could be as a result of one or two unknown reasons or unpredictability in the government as it was an election year.
As we all know, whenever there are promotions in any establishment, it gives room to accommodate new hands on deck. The promotion has been officially approved and it could mean good news for the applicants waiting to know their fate since the aptitude tests earlier this year.
On Nigeria Customs official Facebook’s page which is also a verified one, it gave a breakdown of the ranks of the 2,634 Officers being promoted.
Below is an image of the Official page in case you would like to have more information as there are fake pages used to dupe unsuspecting victims.
