Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari, on Saturday night confirmed reports of a near air mishap she, her daughter, Hanan, and a few others experienced on their way back to Nigeria from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Friday.

In a statement on Saturday night, Mrs Buhari said, “On our way back, the Nigerian Airforce Flight encountered a violent clear air turbulence which was navigated safely and professionally by the captain and crew of the flight

His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari alongside the Nigerian citizens were excited to welcome the arrival of the First Lady, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari from her medical voyage to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Upon her arrival in Nigeria, she discussed her dreadful experience in the aircraft on her way back home when the aircraft she boarded nearly crashed after running into turbulence.

According to Aisha M. Buhari, ” I want to use this opportunity to thank all Nigerians for their prayers and well wishes while I was away for medical treatment. I am well now and fully recovered and have since returned back home, Nigeria. “

She further revealed, ” On our way back, the Nigerian Airforce Flight encountered a violent clear air turbulence which was navigated safely and professionally by the Captain and crew of the Flight. “

She then applauded and acknowledged the Captain and his team who made tremendous abilities to return the flight into normalcy.

She wrote:

” I want to commend and appreciate the courage and professionalism of the Captain and his crew, the wonderful gallant service men and women of the entire Nigerian Airforce for their dedication to duty and the quality of maintainance of its Fleet. “

These are the photos she said on her arrival at the Nigerian airport:(The images above are credited to @aishambuhari on Twitter)

However, when I came across the photos above I noticed two conspicuous things which made me bring up this article in this platform.

Firstly, if you take a second look at the picture above, you will see that the majority of people including the First Lady, Aisha Buhari were not wearing protective face masks as instructed by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

This was not to violate the protocols set by the health authorities, but because everyone willing to meet the First Lady would have been tested in the airport before being allowed to stay near her. That was why the Captain alongside his crew was not putting on their nose covers as well. Moreover, they wished to have their faces shown in full while taking the snapshots with Her Excellency.

Secondly, if you explore the other photo, you will observe that there was no social distancing between them. As I aforesaid, that was also because everyone was safe to stay within the group as they would have been tested negative for coronavirus.
