The President of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Yerima Shettima has warmed that the North would go to war against the Southerners if the ongoing EndSars protest snowballed into President Muhammadu Buhari’s removal from office.

The northern Socio-cultural leader who became paranoid over the spontaneity of EndSARS protest by the Nigerian youths against police killings, police brutality, bad governance and other pressing issues told journalists in Minna, Niger State on Saturday.

Shettima believed that the protest was a ploy to shortchange the North by the South, saying that in the past, the Northerners have been cheated in similar circumstances, when Umar Musa Yaradua died and former President Goodluck Jonathan was sworn into office.

He insisted on the North going to war, if President Muhammadu Buhari is removed from office for the sake of bad governance as being pushed by the protesters.

Arewa youths ‘open up on threatening war if Buhari is removed as president’

His words: “Since 1999, the south has been cheating us as regards to the office of the president.

“When Obasanjo was the President, nobody disturbed him until after his complete eight years in office.

“Immediately our brother took over, they went against him until he died. Instead of using another Northerner to complete his tenure, they forced Jonathan on us.

“Now our brother Buhari is in power again, they are using everything against him forgetting that we still have 8 years after his tenure to equal that of Jonathan and Obasanjo.

“The point is that we the Northerners are not going to allow it. We will go to war if the protesters ever demand for Buhari to resign or an end of Nigeria like some of them are doing in Anambra State.”

CAPITAL POST reports that Nigerians have been protesting that government should end SARS for their brutality against the citizens.

However, the protest continued after the Inspector of Police, Mohammed Adamu scrapped SARS on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari with protesters lately demanding reforms of the country, while the protest is gaining global attention.
