The Super Eagles played out an unacceptable 4-4 draw in the first fixture, surrendering a four-goal lead as John Keister’s men left Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium with a point.

Victory for Gernot Rohr’s men against the Leone Stars will guarantee them a ticket to their 19th appearance at the biennial African football showpiece.

Before the game, Nigeria sat in first position in group L with 7 points from the first three games,beating both Lesotho and Benin Republic, before playing out a draw with Sierra Leone last week. She needed to grab three points to qualify. No matter the outcome of their remaining games.Gernot Rohr fielded a strong eleven,as Kelechi Iheanacho and Ola Aina returned to the fold.

Sierra Leone’s head coach, John Keister also fielded a strong starting lineup,with the likes of Kei Kamara and Mohamed Kamara all in the starting eleven.

Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze both had goal scoring chances but the duo both missed their chances.Etebor was replaced by Abdullahi after he sustained an injury in the 34th minute. Both teams came back for the second half of proceedings and they both looked to score the opener.Nigeria had a chance to break the deadlock in the 51st minute, when Samuel Chukwueze found Kelechi Iheanacho,but thr Leicester City man blazed his sot over the bar.

Kelechi Iheanacho thought he had given the super eagles the lead,when he headed into the net in the 61st minute,but the assistant referee’s flag was raised for offside.Aribo had a chance,but put his shot well over the bar.Iheanacho also had a chance,but his curling effort was well read and saved by the Sierra Leone goalkeeper.

Three minutes was added for extra time, but it was not enough,as the match at the National Stadium in Freetown ended in a goalless draw. 0-0 was the fulltime result.

After the match, Nigerians took to social media to express their thought on the match and one Nigerian blasted a Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho at his performances saying that he is a finished product and should never be called up for international matches again.

Kelechi Iheanacho missed some chances,which do not speak well of him,given that he plays for a top European club. What do you think of Kelechi Iheanacho’s performance today?
