A battle typical of the mythical clash of the titans appear to be brewing between Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his predecessor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Their supporters have kick-started the fight with veiled jabs thrown at each other over the defection and counter defections of party members
Recall that recently, some members of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) jumped ship to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), while some APC members also cross carpeted to the other divide
Spokesman of the Amaechi led-APC faction, Ogbonna Nwuke, while reacting to the defection of two former Commissioners Ibinabo Michael-West and Dr. John Bazia from the PDP to APC, said it was proof that the PDP has been rejected in the State.
Nwuke accused Wike of turning into a dictator, adding that those who defected were tired of being led by a Senior Prefect.
He also accused the PDP of feeding it’s members with lies, noting that he was not surprised they were beginning to fall apart.
Media Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, Jackson Owhor, however described the defections as inconsequential, adding that it was “good riddance..”
He drew the public’s attention to the fact that two former allies of Amaechi, a former leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Dr. Chidi Lloyd and the former Commissioner of Health in the State, Dr. Sampson Parker, also dumped the APC for the PDP.
As loyalists of the two Rivers titans engage themselves in verbal battle, their principals themselves utilize any opportunity to throw shots.
Amaechi recently did just that.
He told a group of defectors that while he remained loyal and worked for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 in the interest of the the State and the Niger Delta region, Wike was busy hauling insults at him.<p class="has-drop-cap has-vivid-red-color has-text-color" value="<amp-fit-text layout="fixed-height" min-font-size="6" max-font-size="72" height="80">According to him, he had remained quiet on the advice of an elder statesman who told him that Wike will soon expose his character to the world and he soon did.According to him, he had remained quiet on the advice of an elder statesman who told him that Wike will soon expose his character to the world and he soon did.
(Wike and Amaechi)
Wike and Amaechi appear poised for war as Amaechi has promised to come back to the State and dictate it’s affairs but we all know Wike is not one that will allow such.
