President-elect Joe Biden made a post saying; “It’s a New Day in America”.

Joe Biden’s Inauguration: Photos From The Historic Swearing-In Of Biden & Kamala Harris

Just two weeks ago the Capitol was under siege by a group of violent insurrectionists intent on overturning the 2020 election results. Today, January 20, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris stood strong in the same location where Donald Trump‘s supporters attempted to defeat them, taking the Oath of Office to become the United States’ next president and vice president. Though the inauguration crowd size was drastically reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can still experience every moment through our gallery of photos. Keep checking back to see all the highlights throughout this momentous occasion.

The day will start off with much fanfare — a reading of the Pledge of Allegiance by trailblazing firefighter Andrea Hall and a rendition of the national anthem by the one and only Lady Gaga . Attendees and viewers at home will also be treated to a poetry reading by the nation’s first Youth Poet Laureate, 23-year-old Amanda Gorman . This accomplished young woman will be presenting her latest work, “The Hill We Climb,” after being hand-picked by our incoming first lady, Dr. Jill Biden

Following Amanda’s stirring recitation, Jennifer Lopez will appear for a unique performance to celebrate Biden and Harris’ remarkable win. She’s not the only music superstar lending her voice to the event. Country superstars Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard will also perform. While the performances will surely get major attention, January 20 is all about the main event: Biden and Harris officially being sworn into office. It’s been a long journey to get here, including a days-long election and rampant cries from Trump that the election was stolen .

But this is their day. It’s looking different from inaugurations past. While roughly 200,000 tickets are usually passed out for the swearing-in, only 1000 tickets were available this year — one for each member of Congress and their guest. Gone are the traditional parade to the White House and galas on inauguration night. While Biden and Harris still made their way to the White House with military accompaniment, viewers at home were treated to a virtual parade, featuring a performance by the reunited  New Radicals— Biden’s late Son Beau Biden‘s favorite band.

The Inauguration will also see America’s Vice president-elect Kamala Harris make history as first Black woman with south Asian roots to resume office of Vice President for the United States of America

Articles of Biden’s impeachment to be presented in the Congress a day after his inauguration.

His expulsion planned after the emergence of claims that he used his son to illegally obtain cash from China and Ukraine.

Donald Junior Trump’s exit faced with lots of hurdles and barriers.

First, the United States President known for his dictatorial reigns was reluctant to concede defeat.

Secondly, he later conceded defeat on condition that he won’t attend Biden’s inauguration.

Thirdly, Biden’s rivals comes up with a scheme to defame and dethrone him.

Orchestrators of the scheme claim that the latter used scheming techniques to wrongfully obtain cash from China and Ukraine.

“Breaking: Articles of impeachment against Joe Biden are being drafted to be presented to Congress on January 21st, a day after his inauguration. Joe is being accused to have used his son to obtain money from Ukraine and China.” Lord Abraham Mutai claims.

Democratic Candidate for the US presidential Elections, Joe Biden has emerged winner.

Biden, 78, is the 46th President of the United states. Biden will be 78 at the end of this month, becoming the oldest president when he is inaugurated in January in the midst of the worst public health crisis in 100 years.

His vice, Kamala Harris will be the first woman, the first person of color, and the first Asian-American to be the vice president of the United States.

Jonathan, who made this known in a Facebook post on Friday, recommended this ‘philosophy’ to all leaders facing ‘challenging situations at the polls’.

He wrote, “Nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any citizen. It is better to gain honour at the cost of losing power than to gain power at the cost of losing honour.

“At any point in time, the power of love should matter more than the love of power.

“This is my philosophy. I have lived it. It has brought great peace to both my beloved nation and I. And I recommend it to all leaders facing challenging situations, either in government, or at the polls, or even in their dealings with fellow political actors.”

Jonathan, who sought reelection on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015, had conceded defeat to the incumbent Nigerian President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), of the All Progressives Congress.

Although Jonathan was not specific about the world ‘leaders’ he made the recommendation to, his statement was made at a time when the United States is electing a new President to lead the nation for another four years.

The incumbent American President, Donald Trump, and his Democrat challenger Joe Biden are presently slugging it out at the polls but the electoral college votes are tilting in favour of Biden who is some figures shy from the magic number of 270.

The Republican candidate has, however, been alleging fraud in the voting process. Trump has also threatened that the election would end up at the US Supreme Court.

Joe Biden’s campaign says he will give a speech during prime time Friday.

The Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign announced that he would be making an address but did not say where or what he plans to say.

Biden is on the cusp of winning the presidency as he opens up narrow leads over President Donald Trump in several critical backgrounds.

The Associated Press has not called the presidential race. Votes are still being counted in states including Pennsylvania and Georgia.

He has urged the public to be patient as vote counting continues. He was spending Friday at home in Wilmington, Delaware.

A stage set up since election night for a victory party outside the city’s convention center remained intact and has been secured for days by security personnel using high fencing and car barriers.

Biden campaign staffers who arrived in Wilmington for a victory party earlier in the week have been told to hold onto their hotel rooms until early next week.

The election of Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, or re-election of the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, would greatly impact either negatively or positively the economy, security and growth of Nigeria.

The United States of America is in a race to pick its next President and expectedly many nations around the world are paying attention because of the superpower’s ability to influence foreign policy.

In 2019, the President added Nigeria to a special watch list and a Muslim ban list, restricting travel and immigration from the most populous black nation in the world over terrorism concerns.

Trump’s administration has also openly antagonised Nigeria’s candidate for top global jobs – Akinwunmi Adesina of the Africa Development Bank was placed under investigation after a whistleblower alleged corruption, America backed his scrutiny despite the fact that he had been cleared by an independent panel.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the latest to suffer from America’s disapproval in vying for the top job at the World Trade Organisation.

Despite receiving the support of the European Union and many member states, the USA said it would support South Korea’s Trade Minister, Yoo Myung-hee, because Okonjo-Iweala lacked hands-on experience.

America is Nigeria’s top oil buyer — Nigeria depends on oil to run. With oil prices crashing globally, and the Coronavirus pandemic affecting its economy, America is reducing imports from Nigeria.

In August 2020, the US announced that it had slashed its imports of Nigerian crude oil to 9.37 million barrels in the first five months of this year, 11.67 million barrels lower than what it bought in the same period of 2019.

The highest monthly volume of Nigerian crude purchased by the North American country so far this year was 2.12 million barrels, compared to 11.78 million barrels in 2019.

Its purchases plunged by 63.03 per cent in the first quarter of 2020 to 5.53 million barrels, compared to the last quarter of 2019 when it bought 15.07 million barrels from Nigeria.

It is unclear if this will change under Biden as he plans to restore America to the Paris Climate accord exited by Trump which would see the country moving away from non-renewable sources of energy as part of efforts to reduce global carbon emissions.

A visit to Joe Biden’s website shows that his foreign policy strategy plans to change Trump’s stance on a lot of the issues.

Biden says he will renew, “the United States’ mutually respectful engagement towards Africa with a bold strategy that reaffirms our commitment to supporting democratic institutions on the continent; advancing lasting peace and security; promoting economic growth, trade, and investment; and supporting sustainable development.”

He plans to achieve this by, “Asserting America’s commitment to shared prosperity, peace and security, democracy, and governance as foundational principles of U.S.-Africa engagement.

Restoring and reinvigorating diplomatic relations with African governments and regional institutions, including the African Union.

“Ensuring the U.S. Government and U.S. Foreign Service reflect the rich composition of the American citizenry, including African Diaspora professionals and

“Continuing the Young African Leaders Initiative and deepening America’s commitment to engage with Africa’s dynamic young leaders.”

On immigration, he said he would make America friendlier to immigrants in his first 100 days in office.

According to policy information provided on his campaign website, Biden said if elected as President of the United States of America, he will reverse the ban placed on countries such as Nigeria with predominantly Muslim population, which prevents them from immigrating to the US.

Recall that in February 2020, President Trump added Nigeria to a list of 13 nations facing stringent travel restrictions including Myanmar, Sudan, Kyrgyzstan, Eritrea, and Tanzania due to activities of extremist Islamic groups in the countries.

It bans citizens of these countries from moving to the United States through the diversity visa lottery, which grants green cards to as many as 50,000 people a year.

Biden, who is Trump’s biggest competition for the top job said he will, “end these policies, starting with Trump’s Migrant Protection Protocols, and restore our asylum laws so that they do what they should be designed to do – protect people fleeing persecution and who cannot return home safely.

“Biden will dramatically increase U.S. Government resources to support migrants awaiting assessment of their asylum claims and to the organisations providing for their needs.

“The Trump administration’s anti-Muslim bias hurts our economy, betrays our values, and can serve as a powerful terrorist recruiting tool. Prohibiting Muslims from entering the country is morally wrong, and there is no intelligence or evidence that suggests it makes our nation more secure. It is yet another abuse of power by the Trump administration designed to target primarily black and brown immigrants. Biden will immediately rescind the “Muslim bans.”

He also vowed to protect “Dreamers” — undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US as children but have been productive members of society by going to school or doing the US military.

“Dreamers and their parents should have a roadmap to citizenship through legislative immigration reform. But in the meantime, Biden will remove the uncertainty for Dreamers by reinstating the DACA program, and he will explore all legal options to protect their families from inhumane separation. Biden will also ensure Dreamers are eligible for federal student aid (loans, Pell grants) and are included in his proposals to provide access to community college without debt and invest in HBCU/Hispanic Serving Institution/Minority Serving Institutions, which will help Dreamers contribute even more to our economy,” it adds

As part of his plan for immigration, Biden said he would order an immediate review of Temporary Protected Status for vulnerable populations who cannot find safety in their countries ripped apart by violence or disaster.

He said the Trump Administration’s politically-motivated decisions to rescind protected status for hundreds of thousands of people fleeing countries impacted by war and natural disasters — without regard for current country conditions — is a recipe for disaster.

“Biden will protect TPS and Deferred Enforced Departure holders from being returned to countries that are unsafe. TPS/DED holders who have been in the country for an extended period of time and built lives in the U.S. will also be offered a path to citizenship through legislative immigration reform,” his website says.

The former US Vice President is also promising to reform the temporary visa system to eliminate limits on employment-based visas by country.

“High skilled temporary visas should not be used to disincentivize recruiting workers already in the U.S. for in-demand occupations. An immigration system that crowds out high-skilled workers in favour of only entry-level wages and skills threatens American innovation and competitiveness. Biden will work with congress to first reform temporary visas to establish a wage-based allocation process and establish enforcement mechanisms to ensure they are aligned with the labour market and not used to undermine wages. Then, Biden will support expanding the number of high-skilled visas and eliminating the limits on employment-based visas by country, which create unacceptably long backlogs,” according to his campaign organization

Biden said will revisit the Diversity Visa Lottery which the Trump “set his sights on abolishing” to ensure that immigrants everywhere have the chance of becoming US citizens.”

His stance on the matter, “This is a program that brings up to 50,000 immigrants from underrepresented countries to the U.S. each year. He has disparaged the system as a “horror show” and repeatedly misrepresents how the lottery is administered while demonizing and insulting with racist overtones those who receive the visas. Diversity preferences are essential to preserving a robust and vibrant immigration system. As president, Biden will reaffirm our core values and preserve the critical role of diversity preferences to ensure immigrants everywhere have the chance to legally become U.S. citizens.”

Adding that he would defend the naturalisation process for green card holders, “A Biden administration will streamline and improve the naturalization process to make it more accessible to qualified green card holders. The Trump Administration has made it far too difficult for qualifying green card holders to obtain citizenship. Quite simply, this is wrong. Biden will restore faith in the citizenship process by removing roadblocks to naturalization and obtaining the right to vote, addressing the application backlog by prioritizing the adjudication work stream and ensuring applications are processed quickly, and rejecting the imposition of unreasonable fees.”

Joe Biden also said he will create a new visa category, allowing cities in the US, who are struggling with shrinking populations to apply for immigrants who can come and support the region’s economic development strategy.

Nigeria has been struggling to end the Boko Haram Insurgency. When Biden was Vice President of the US, he spearheaded a number of interventions to help stop the activities of the terror group.

Under the Barack Obama administration, the US offered the Goodluck Jonathan administration to help rescue the Chibok schoolgirls in the early days of their abduction — a gesture turned down by the Nigerian Government.

Many of the girls remain in captivity seven years on.

It is expected that Biden would try to continue some of Obama’s policies on global terrorism and offer to help Nigeria win the war against terror.

Nigerians have flooded social media platforms with comments over what US Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden say he will do to all Muslims living in America should he win the Presidential election and become the next President of the United States.

Biden who is ahead in the polls told a group of Muslims that they should be proud of his lead, becouse if he becomes president, Islam will be treated equally to Christianity.

His words, “Be proud, be proud, I mean it. If I become president, I will treat Islam like every other confessional faith.”

As at penning this, Biden currently leads with 253 electoral votes or 264 if the 11 electoral votes from the southwestern state of Arizona are included.

He is thus 17 or just 6 short of the required 270 to be declared the winner.

His Republican opponent and incumbent President Donald Trump is already alleging fraud in the election.

He is demanding the halting of counting on the allegetion that votes were casted after polls were closed.

“STOP THE COUNT!” Trump tweeted on Thursday morning.

Nigerians have however continued to react to Biden’s promise to American Muslims with diverse opinions on social media.

US Election: “I’m Watching CNN & I Can’t Believe What’s Happening” — Reno Omokri Says

As polls close in some states as Americans decide who will be their next president, their are now wide reports that the incumbent President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has defied predictions of loosing to Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate.

As at the time of filing this report, Donald Trump is massively leading in the votes, and there are fears he might return reelected.

The likes of Reno Omokri, a controversial social media commentator, has equally expressed how shock he is on seeing CNN Jake Tapper stammering on live TV due to the early results trickling in favour of Trump.

Before now, CNN which is one of the Main Steam Media always against Trump, had predicted a “blue wave,” in which Democrats will retake the White House and Senate and maintain control of the House of Representatives.

Reno is now wondering what is actually going on with they way the news anchor was reacting to the early results.

According to online reports, Trump is winning in the votes percentage and also in the electoral college.

See The Election Graph Below

Few hours ago, Joe Biden was leading in Florida, Ohio, Texas and North Carolina but with the early results that have been released, Trump finally won him in those states.

See Some of The Few Released Results

In fact as at the time of filing this report, the results of Ohio & Texas just came out and Trump won with a great margin.

In Georgia, Trump is equally leading with over 300k votes and some Americans are really shocked by that.

Result of a key swing state like Pennsylvania is yet to be announced but Trump is closing very fast there.

According to political experts, Trump is doing well with Black, Hispanic and Latino voters and the media narrative about Trump being “racist” failed.

However, before the end of today, the full election results will be released and a winner be declared.

The entire world is impatiently waiting as the results keep trickling in. The race to winning the 270 Electoral Colleges needed to make it into the White House isn’t an easy one. Whatever the outcome of election will not come as a surprise to anyone, because both candidates put in their best during the campaign and in the fight.

What’s your opinion on this?

Do you guys think that Trump will eventually win this race?
